Primitives is a series of four paintings. They show four ‘standard’ shapes from 3D software. A cube, an octahedron, a dodecahedron and an icosahedron. These basic geometric forms can be used as a start of a custom 3D model. They can be imported with one click and from there they can be modified to any possible shape. Within the digital environment they react to the lighting of the scene. When the lighting changes, different sides of the shapes will become visible. These paintings show this behaviour, translated from the digital realm to our physical world.
